چکیده
The efficient removal of nitrate from industrial wastewater containing high concentrations both sulfate and presents a major challenge in the field water treatment. In this study, we investigated use an Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactor for by gradually increasing concentration (ranging 1 g/L to 10 g/L) NO3−-N 30 mg/L 300 mg/L). Through approach, activated sludge was successfully acclimated tolerate high-sulfate conditions. results demonstrated remarkable capacity 288 mg/L·d with g/L, leading efficiency exceeding 96.0%. analysis sulfide concentrations, as well characterization microbial community, revealed occurrence autotrophic heterotrophic denitrification processes reaction system. denitrifying bacteria found were Raoultella Shinella, while included Klebsiella, Simplicispira, Thauera. organic carbon sources be critical factor influencing performance Furthermore, effects different chemical oxygen demand (COD)/SO42− ratios (0.3, 0.5, 1) examined mg/L. showed that COD/SO42− ratio enhanced rate NO3−-N, maintaining it above 98.0% when 1. Additionally, enhancement reduction system observed, enrichment microorganisms such Megasphaera, Lactobacillus, Buttiauxella observed.

Biological sulfate removal from acrylic fiber manufacturing wastewater using a two-stage UASB reactor.
A two-stage UASB reactor was employed to remove sulfate from acrylic fiber manufacturing wastewater. Mesophilic operation (35 +/- 0.5 degree C) was performed with hydraulic retention time (HRT) varied between 28 and 40 hr. Mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) in the reactor was maintained about 8000 mg/L. The results indicated that sulfate removal was enhanced with increasing the ratio of COD/S...
متن کاملDenitrification of high nitrate concentration wastewater using alternative carbon sources.
The use of different organic carbon sources in the denitrification of wastewater containing 2500 mg nitrates/L in a SBR was studied. Three alternative sources of carbon were tested: wastewater from a sweet factory, a residue from a soft drinks factory and a residue from a dairy plant. The first two are sugar-rich, whereas the third presents a high content in lactic acid. Maximum specific denitr...
متن کاملNitrate Removal from Wastewater through Biological Denitrification with OGA 24 in a Batch Reactor
Nitrates pollution of waters is a worldwide problem and its remediation is a big challenge from the technical and the scientific point of view. One of the most used and promising cleaning techniques is the biological treatment of wastewaters operated by denitrifying bacteria. In this paper we begin a thorough study of denitrifying performances of the bacterium Azospira sp. OGA 24, recently isol...

Nitrogen Removal from Milking Center Wastewater via Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification Using a Biofilm Filtration Reactor
Milking center wastewater (MCW) has a relatively low ratio of carbon to nitrogen (C/N ratio), which should be separately managed from livestock manure due to the negative impacts of manure nutrients and harmful effects on down-stream in the livestock manure process with respect to the microbial growth. Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (SND) is linked to inhibition of the second ni...
